Here is what we need to have finished by week 9:

Costume - Choose one person to represent your country and dress them in recycled items from head to toe. This will be judged by an outside judge. The rest of the group can wear their country’s colours to the ceremony. If you want to make something extra for each child to wear you are most welcome.

We are going to make a dress from chip packets and plastic bags. We need to think how we will connect the chip packets & bags together.

Collecting plastic bags - Dewalt, Griffin and Shakayla, Sophie, Levi, Zaiver and Jayden

Collecting and washing chip packets:

Monday - Amelia, Levi and Milly

Tuesday - Ava and Harmony

Wednesday - Jayden, Zavier and Levi

Thursday - Shakayla and Sophie

Friday - Shakayla and Sophie

Medals - Design a bronze/silver/gold medal and hand this in to Mr George by Week 7. We are hoping to have these judged by a former olympian. Ideas for medals - wood - Dewalt, flat rock medals -(Levi and Jayden), Paper Mache - Millie
Flag - Study the meaning of your flag and make at least one flag to fly on the NCA Olympics Day, made out of recycled items, the correct size.

Dance - create a dance to perform at the NCA Olympics Day opening ceremony, needs to be more than 1.30 and less than 5min. We are going to learn the samba -
Everyone will learn how to move their hands and feet to the samba. Here is a great clip that will help us learn it.

Seniors, I need 2 or 4 of you to volunteer to learn this dance. For this to work, we will need both boys and girls.

Here is our actual song. It is the first song in the play list.

Anthem - Try your hardest to learn your country's National Anthem to sing at the opening ceremony - backing track allowed

Chant - Create a chant to ‘yell out’ during the rotation during the NCA Olympics

Food - Research what they eat in your country. Each child to bring a food from their country to share with your group at lunchtime on NCA Olympics day.

Language - Do your best to learn some simple phrases in your country’s language. Maybe some encouragement sayings for when they complete their rotation. E.g. well done, good work… Have your Year 8’s learn a simple hello and welcome in your countries language to share at the opening ceremony.
Here is a clip to help us learn to speak Portuguese:

The basic’s of portuguese :
Hello : ola
Hello how are you? : alo como via?
Good thank. you what about you? : otimo, obrigado. E se voce?
